After hearing a local pond company issued a factory recall on Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, concerned residents started fearing the worse.
A few days later after Allen Stubitsch was admitted into Advocate Condell Hospital did the true story come.
It appears an elaborate hoax, a false recall was issued, and thousands of Reeses Peanut Cups were mailed or even delivered directly to Mr. Stubitsch.
After consuming what authorities believe to be hundreds, maybe thousands of the chocolate and peanut butter goodness, Mr. Stubitsch found out he was developing an allergic reaction to the peanut butter.
"Guess I learned my lesson" he exclaimed through a chocolate smeared smile.
