Blue Island, Ill. - A 17-year-old boy has been charged with shooting another teenager Monday night in southwest Blue Island.
Authorities were called at 8:50 p.m. about a shooting near 140th Street and Western Avenue, according to a statement from Blue Island police. Officers arrived to find the 19-year-old boy with a single gunshot wound to the torso and chest.
He was taken MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
The 17-year-old suspect was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, police said. He will be transported from the Blue Island police station to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.
