A recent collation of statistics and opinion polls conducted by the Durham University during a social experiment has revealed a list of the Town's and Cities defined as the 'chaviest'.

Top of the groupings was Telford, Shropshire with an incredible 72 of Telford residents estimated as either identifying as 'chavs' or being recognised as being such by those that took part in the survey.

Pioneering this study was student, Kurdit Haseem, from Durham University, who gave us the following statement; "Statistically, it did not come as much of a surprise to us, Telford's teen pregnancy rates and crime rates are among the highest per capita in Northern Europe. Having conducted this survey we can make clear definitions about links between 'chavs' and such figures."

We contacted Telford and Wrekin Council to gauge their reaction to this news, they declined to comment, stating only that they 'did not consider it an achievement'.

It is unknown how this survey will impact on the locally community, however, it is possible that such negative media attention could impact on house prices and business investment in the area.

Following closely behind Telford in this survey were Bradford, Hull and Dudley. Lowest ranking was found to be Midhurst, West Sussex.
