A 36 year old Local Bangor Chef Gareth Smyth . Who currently plys his trade in the towns Red Berry Coffee company. Has been named as one of the contestants to partake in the next series of TV hit show. The Great British Menu due to hit our screens in the new year. We contacted Mr Smyth here's what he had to say when we asked him about his upcoming venture.

"I'm shocked to be completely honest. I entered as a joke not thinking I would get a response. Then mid September I received an email saying my application had passed the first stages and I then had to record myself cooking something out off a set off ingredients they had suggested. I did this and sent off the video with great feedback. Then just tonight (12/01/2017) I received a call from an unknown number it was chris from the show wanting to do a telephone interview and at the end said congratulations your in. My jaw almost hit the floor...I can't wait to get started and show what I can do and hopefully win.
