Franson was somewhat surprisingly placed on waivers on Monday just a few months after signing a one-year deal with the Blackhawks in October. In 23 games for Chicago this season, the 30-year-old blue-liner has one goal and seven points, while averaging 16:37 in ice time. He goes back to the Toronto Maple Leafs for whom he played from 2012-15. Going back to Chicago is a 5th round pick in the 2019 NHL draft.
