Jennifer Warrant, an English teacher at Algona High School, has been awarded Algona High's prestigious Teacher of the Year award. Warrant, an 18-year teaching veteran, earned the award after deciding to "cash in" all of her sick leave days and just stay home. Students said they've learned more this year than they ever have, and Warrant's absenteeism is definitely the cause. "The whole school just has a different atmosphere," said Jared Cecil, principal at Algona High School.
