The Toronto Maple leafs have been working the phones all week on calls for Auston Matthews and are believed to be in negotiations with the Boston Bruins, the Edmonton Oilers, and the St. Louis Blues. The Edmonton Oilers are believed to be the front runners on the Matthews sweepstakes as they do have assets they are willing to give up. The asking price for Matthews is believed to be an elite forward, a top pairing defenceman, a first round draft pick, and a high end prospect. Elliotte Friedman suggests that a trade is possibly closer than we may think to being finalized, until then all we can do is wait and see.
