Officers found the female teen unresponsive on the sidewalk. She had sustained several injuries to her upper torso and was taken by Rural/Metro Medical Services ambulance to Saint Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. Corbelli said that doctors at Elizabeths reported that the teen's injuries were actually stab wounds and not gunshot wounds.
The teen, whose name was released by police, Mya Delano was pronounced dead at 7:47 p.m., Corbelli said.
Corbelli said a preliminary investigation indicates that the teen had been involved in a fight on Coddington Street when she was stabbed. She then ran from the scene and collapsed at Roper Elementary School
The Major Crimes Unit is actively working the investigation, Corbelli said.
