The Hershey Company has decided to end production of its Reese’s peanut butter cups due to the rising costs of fuel and shipping. Reese’s products are currently manufactured in Mexico, and with the rising tension between the US and Mexico Hershey has decided to close all of its Mexican manufacturing plants and layoff over 200 Mexican workers. We reached out to Hershey for comment, but they declined. Many analysts believe that this may be the result of tariffs. This shows good news for Americans looking for employment, because Hershey is planning on expanding its plant in Hershey, PA to restart production of Reese’s peanut products very soon, but Hershey is not expected to finish the expansion unti 2024.
