Local authorities in the small hamlet of Richelieu Montana confirmed today that a badly decomposed corpse was discovered by two hunters earlier this week on a fire trail north of US Route 33. The body was first thought to be that of a grisley bear, due to its size.

Upon further investigation, Sheriff’s Department Deputies confirmed that the body was neither human nor of a bear. The body was badly decomposed, and appeared not to have been the victim of a hunting incident.

National cryptozoology experts from the University of Montana in Butte were asked to investigate the circumstances and help identify the species of animal discovered.
Ramondo Vega,PhD and Alfred Moreland DVM, PhD reported that the male carcass discovered was approximately 7.5 feet tall, and probably weighed 350-400 pounds. Distinguishing features pointed to the probability that the discovery was of an adult male ape. Neither scientists would confirm or deny reports that they had found a dead Bigfoot, or Sasquatch.

“While there is evidence that indicates that the body is not of the homo erectus (ape) species”, said Dr Moreland, “ we are not ready to state with absolute certainty that we have a dead Sasquatch in the woods”.

The team was in the process of conducting a forensic examination of both the body and the surrounding terrain. They plan to remove the decomposed remains to the veterinarian hospital at the University later this week. Further examination may lead to a more definitive answer to the question of the mysterious identity of, what is being dubbed as the Richelieu Bigfoot.
