In 1844-1989, the almost legendary but extremely successful Chocolate Mine in California was at its peak! Chocolate production then was greater than ever before, thanks to the entire mine melting at July 2nd. This caused the money produced to skyrocket. Nearly all purchases in local markets are entirely chocolate- related! Scientists believe the cause of such heat and the entire Chocolate Mine was caused by a natural storm, striking many cocoa trees. Chocolate began melting and seeping into the mine, with dirt and minerals in the rocks producing natural sugar. The chocolate wore away at the rocks, hardening inside over half of the mine! Unfortunately, this had already been an uncommon iron mine, with very few miners working in it. Once they finally worked through the rocks, they had struck gold- chocolate gold! This was not obvious to the miners at the time, but the chocolate was eventually identified. Thanks to the men’s greed, they did their best to keep it a secret- and to this day, it still is! This had come to the people’s attention when again, the mine had heated, and the chocolate began to melt! Fortunately, they were able to seal the mine before all of its contents spilled- but the half of it escaped. The chocolate only reached a small percentage of the town below, but even the people had kept quiet. The miners started selling the chocolate everywhere, simply by delivery. Unfortunately, they had passed before they planned to tell the people, resulting in the big secret.
