On January 3, 2019, Takashi Iizuka announced that Sonic Unleashed is getting a remake. He said that "it will use Sonic Forces' graphical and physics engine," so gameplay will be twisted this time around. The remake will be released in November 2028, which is the game's 20th anniversary.
