SPARTA NJ - Fans of Netflix’s Making A Murderer may still be debating Steven Avery’s guilt or innocence, but there is one thing on which there is near universal agreement – Dean Strang and Jerry Buting are Molly's only hope as she begins her fight against State charges alleging consumption of a $220 industrial microSD card.

While both seem slightly embarrassed by the attention outside Sussex County Courthouse, they have also seized the moment as an opportunity to draw further attention to the failures of the justice system.

"We're not focused on whether she did it or not. I think that'll come out at trial," explained Dean Strang to the gaggle of reporters that have followed Molly since her initial arrest. "We've come to NJ to make sure Molly is afforded the same civil liberties you and I take for granted everyday. The same due process you'd want for yourself if God forbid you faced these types of allegations."

Many of the crowd's questions centered on whether Sussex County's court system will weigh the facts of this case less seriously given Molly's reputation as one of Sparta's most notorious canine divas. Others asked the legal duo about plans to move the trial to a county with more favorable urban demographics.

"All you hear on TV is the police and prosecutor narrative about two dogs, from the same litter, one bad, one good, hell, maybe even from different fathers altogether," opined an angry but determined Jerry Buting, referring to ways DNA evidence could be used to exonerate Molly while at the same time implicating her brother, the Jack of Hearts.

"Of course. It's easy for the media to say Jack is innocent. Look at him. In every single picture he looks petrified. Easy to believe he'd never do it, right? Wrong!," exclaimed Buting before turning his back to the crowd.

Strang picked up where he left off. "The fact is that we see a lot of overlaps between Molly's case in NJ and what Stephen Avery went through in Wisconsin. The police misconduct, the prosecutorial misconduct...and the great lengths the establishment will go to poison the jury pool. Wisconsin had Ken Kratz - and that was bad - but this woman Brianne at the Stop and Shop? Using her position at Stop and Shop to influence local lawmakers and union leaders? Funneling gas points to Andrew Colborn so he can call in favors from his NJ police buddies? This is the real news. This is what needs to be investigated."

Molly's defense team will be asking the court to consider motions relating to a change of venue, citing the overwhelming pro-Jack atmosphere that has gripped all of Sussex County.

Many NJ residents believe she should be tried in Baltimore where she and her brother were found as puppies back in 2015. Mayor Catherine Pugh took to Twitter to bash the idea, stating that, "...Baltimore barely survived the riots that were going on when they were born. If a Baltimore court found her guilty, it'd be Freddie Gray times ten. We can't let that happen."

But the one we want to hear from most is silent - there has been no comment from Molly or her representatives. Sources say she's comfortable in her quarters at Sussex County Correctional and currently being treated for a rare form of Zika Virus - which may be the root cause of her disproportionately small head.

Buting jumped on whispers between reporters about whether the team may play the Zika card at trial. "Nothing is off the table. Everything is fair game. I hope the people that have watched your little news charade today start asking why a small head and an outie belly button makes you guilty? And why a funny ear makes you innocent? Don't give up on Molly. We're not."
