In a recent interview in Tokyo, Japan with the 48 year old SSBU Director, “Masahiro Sakurai” he referenced that there might be a movie coming. When asked, “Are there any other projects you are going to be working on after all the [Super] Smash Bros. [Ultimate] DLC have been released?” In which Sakurai replied, “Indeed, there will be one major project we will be working on starting in a few years. I won’t say much but it will be shown worldwide and connect many tales from different stories.” When asked later about a film Sakurai replied, “After working on Kirby: Fright to the Finish! back in 2005 I have enjoyed making stories to tell to people. And there will be more to come!” So does this mean there will be a Smash Bros. movie? Will it connect to Pokémon: Detective Pikachu by Warner Bros. and/or Sonic the Hedgehog by Paramount Pictures? Only time will tell.
