The Mineral Energy Initiative (MIE) of Gemological Institute Of America (GIA) finds out that healing crystals can have physical, psychological, and emotional effects over people, but they do not fully replace traditional health treatment.

The study published in the journal, Health Promotion and Behavior, highlights the need for more research to understand how mineral energy healing might be useful to some people.

What is mineral energy healing?

People often consider crystals as objects with healing properties, but they also have a metaphysical and energetic impact on human beings. Crystals are minerals found in large numbers in nature, for example amethyst, aquamarine, and jade.

These minerals are said to be the healing stones because the power they hold is a natural energy that supports healing. They were widely used in medicine in ancient times. Hippocrates believed that amethyst helped heal the eye. He told his patients to drink wine with their eyes covered to absorb the stone’s healing power.

In our current modern era, mineral energy healing became popular after its use in alternative medicine to treat emotional pain. One of the most famous mineral energy healers is Caroline Myss, the author of several books including, The Gift of Imperfection, An Anatomy of the Spirit.

Crystal healing is also a form of alternative medicine. It combines spirituality and crystals to heal. Healing crystals are used to treat spiritual issues including depression, grief, trauma, pain, anxiety, and stress.

The study by MIE highlights that while some people may use mineral healing to treat emotional pain, it may be necessary to look at the causes of the pain. In addition, the study emphasizes the fact that it is important to understand the healing technique and its efficacy, and whether there are any risks involved with using it.

What is the MIE study?

The study by MIE, led by GIA’s Associate Director of Science, Dr. Christine Zuccaro, examined whether the use of healing crystals is safe and efficacious in people.

The study looked at people with physical, emotional, and psychological problems who used the healing power of crystals to overcome their pain and emotional issues.

The study looked at how crystals affected people with various diseases and health conditions including cancer, kidney stones, and mental disorders like depression and anxiety.

During the study, the participants used crystals and mineral supplements to heal their emotional pain. They also had standard medical treatments including antidepressants, pain killers, antianxiety medicines, and various surgeries, as needed.

The study was carried out using medical and scientific methods. This study also included a survey with a questionnaire that allowed the researchers to ask questions about how the participants’ emotional issues improved after they started using crystals to heal their pain.

Study conclusion and implications

After carefully analyzing the results, the researchers found that many of the participants reported pain relief and emotional improvement.

They also observed that some of the participants reported improvement in emotional pain even though they did not use the crystals to heal their pain. These findings showed that crystals were not only helpful in healing emotional pain, but they were also helpful in healing other emotional issues.

The authors of this study concluded that the use of healing crystals is safe and might be helpful in easing emotional pain.

They added that more clinical trials are needed to prove whether the use of crystals is effective in treating emotional pain.
