18 year old leads local cops on a high-speed chase, ends in crash

The local police departments of Jackson, Oakhill, wellston, Gallia and Vinton were notified to be on the lookout for a grey and black Mitsubishi lancer with red wheels. The Jackson police department got several calls and complaints from a local business at 8:30 am. The calls were regarding loud exhaust noises and tire screeches. Officer Keith Cunningham was on the scene when the driver of the vehicle Ian Swing was reported to be doing burnouts and reving his engine. Officer Cunningham turned on his lights and sirens, that began the chase. Ian took off as fast as he could with Keith behind him. Keith called in backup. A total of 36 local police officers engaged in the chase. A top speed was recorded of 158mph. The chase ended at 3:56 that evening, when Ian ran off the road and struck a tree. He was ejected out of his vehicle. Ian was pronounced dead on the scene.
