He believes we need to catch these animals and remove them from our cities, towns and countryside.
Then, if we can, persuade people to adopt them.
But for those cats that can't be rehomed — or kept under control — Dr Marra has bad news: 'They will need to be euthanised.' That's science-speak for killed.
Again, I'm sorry, but I have to agree with him. There's no doubt that cats kill many songbirds and small mammals — from frogs to field mice (they're not particular about their victims).
