Andrew McDonald was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a bag of pucks that the team will use during pre-game warmups. GM Ron Hextall had this to say about the transaction:
"We are thrilled about the trade. We feel that Andy needed a fresh start on a team with no talented veterans, and we will definitely use the bag of pucks as much as we can. We needed a refill since Nick [Schultz] shot the majority of the original pucks into the stands."
Once Claude Giroux heard of the trade, his only comment was "It's about time. We desparately needed new pucks."
Andrew McDonald could not be reached for comment.
