Residents in the local area of Pumpherston pond were given notice today (9th Nov, 2016) that there will be an increased volume of traffic within the next 2 months. This is because of pumpherston pond is in the final flings of closure. It is understood that there has been an ongoing problem with litter and waste being dumped in the area. Simon Forth, a spokesperson for the local golf club has stated "we have asked the local community over the past 2 years to help by clearing litter when out walking their dogs or fishing but this has unfortunatly fallen on deaf ears. We are now monitoring the situation to see if things improve over the next 3 weeks. If the rubbish is cleared and kept clear we can hold back development"

Work was due to begin in march but initial planning concent was marred by a late inquiry into what access was needed for the clearing. Now it seems Pumpherston Golf Club are hoping to keep the pond IF locals can get together and clear the rubbish and keep it clean.
