Callaway Gardens-
On a balmy pleasant evening on a beach in front of Aqua Lake, the sounds of squealing tires, breaking glass, and hysterical outbursts could be heard. These were the sounds of concert goers attending what they thought would be a calm Spring concert being performed by the Columbus Symphony under the direction of conductor George del Gobbo.
“I was so mad, I wanted to give HIM the finger,” said one concert goer after del Gobbo’s comment about his favorite “real” country songs.
“To the best of my knowledge, there ain’t no country songs called “three’s company: two’s a felony”, or “I gave her the ring and she gave me the finger!”
Anita Nother, from Bowdoin was outraged over Mr. del Gobbo’s insults toward Kevin Costner.
“He’s really a good actor,” said Ms. Nother through tears and streaming makeup, “I knowed he [del Gobbo] prolly ain’t never see water world, but it was a great movie!”
Rumors were also floating that Mr. del Gobbo was heard insulting Willy Nelson by stating that “this is the way this song (On the Road Again arr Lee Norris) would have sounded if Willy Nelson had never smoked a joint.”
