Reports have been circulating for several weeks that a super league club will be able to sell their licence to another club. It has been suggested that Wakefield would be the most likely to take this offer on, with a value of around £2 million who could blame them?

Reports have now come to light that not only is Wakefield's only professional sports team looking at moving, the actual City of Wakefield is tempted to sell its city status. It has been suggested that Harrogate and Huddersfield are front runners with values in excess of £500 million being suggested. Cllr Boxes; "Wakefield has a proud heritage, but during these times of austerity, maintaining a city is expensive. Dropping to town status will mean that we can maintain front line services". He went on to say that the Five Towns would now be reclassified as villages. Hopefully this doesn't start a new trend of cities swapping their status or relocating to different parts of the country.
