(By Brian Blair AP) - Kik is a popular chat app for Android and iOS that has over 100,000,000 users that has been around since 2010. It's a completely ad free application where you can share images and short videos and join groups based on your interests. Due to lawsuits and the outspoken group P.A.K (Parents Against Kik), the CEO of Kik, Ted Livingston, made the shocking announcement today at a unscheduled press conference at the Kik Headquarters.

Livingston announced "My Kik app is getting out of control with sex offenders and underage members. Charging people for this service and demanding ID to verify age is just something I have to do at this point. I have no option."

The CEO did say later that it would be $19.95 per month on a month-by-month basis or $11.95 a month if you make one payment for 12 months at $143.40. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to join. Age verification will be done with a valid picture ID and Social Security Number. That information will be sent to the U.S. State Department and F.B.I. for a QVP (Quick Verification Process). More information will be made available at (www.kik-verification.info) once the site is up and running no later than September 10th, 2018. Any current users that don't pay and get verified will lose accessibility to the app.
