In an interview with Breaking News 365, Blizzard Entertainment’s Vice President Jeff Kaplan seemingly slipped up and revealed information that hasn’t officially been announced before now.

The interview began with questions about the Nintendo Switch version of Overwatch that will be releasing soon:

“Previously, there were some technical challenges,” Jeff Kaplan told Breaking News 365 in the interview. “The tech specs [on Switch] weren’t quite there. It would have been a non-trivial undertaking for us to make the game on Switch.”

He pointed to Nintendo’s history of upgrading consoles with more horsepower as something to keep an eye on. “One of Nintendo’s most successful platforms is 3DS,” Kaplan said. “And watch how many times they upgraded that over time,” he said. “Just because something might not be feasible now doesn’t mean that at some point in the future it might be an option for us. That’s what happened. Luckily, now with new version of the Switch releasing, this is possible. The Switch can keep up with the other consoles well enough to allow cross-play as well.”

After saying this, Jeff seemed disappointed in himself for revealing what was meant to be classified information. The rest of the interview is available on our website, however we felt it was important to release a separate argument for this piece of information.
