Islanders trade John Tavares to the Maple Leafs for William Nylander and 2 second round picks.

Sportsnet has just reported that the NY Islanders have traded captain John Tavares to the Toronto Maple Leafs for youth as they realized that it was going to be difficult to sign him this year. In return they get a young and speedy forward who's accomplishments last year was overshawdowed by Auston Matthews Rookie of the Year season. Tavares in a phone interview thanked the NY Islanders for their support over the years and wished he had brought a fifth Stanley Cup to this storied franchise. But he is " very excited to be going home and I look forward to hosting the Cup in the greatest hockey city in the world"
