You read correctly. Big red is in the final stages to merge with Wireless giant AT&T, to create the largest wireless operator in the world. Combining both companies would give the new company, 237 million subscribers. It is unknown what name will be kept once the merger is complete.
The merger is expected to close in Q1 of 2018. Shares of AT&T were up 5 after the announcement.
