Authorities today rushed to a horrific scene in the sleepy Pennsylvania town of Honesdale and attempted to subdue and capture a large purple monster which had been devouring local residents. "It only had one eye, like a cyclops," reported one terrified bystander, "and a single horn, big, not like a deer antler, more like a unicorn or narwhal," they continued. This is not the first time an entity like this has wreaked havoc on small-town America.

The O.E.O.H.F.P.P.E. Task Force has reportedly been tracking the creature for the last five years. It is said to feed on people who share seemingly legitimate but sensationalistic news stories on Facebook without first checking that they are from a reputable news source. Honesdale has recently experienced an uptick in such activities. County-wide sharing of erroneous stories such as "Siberian Tiger loose in Hawley" and "All Dollar Tree Stores are closing" has lured the purple monster to Wayne County and authorities are struggling to control it. The only way to keep the creature at bay is to read news stories with a critical eye and verify they originate form a reputable source before sharing them on social media.
