Can sharing political news on social media be detrimental to your health? A recent study published last Tuesday in the journal Colonic Quaterly suggests that it can be.

Researchers at Faber College have concluded that increased political activism on social media sites may be attributable for up to 62 of all reported cases of chronic lower digestive tract pain (CLDTP). This flies in the face of previous research into CLDTP, which pointed the finger at things such as GMO foods, pesticides, and gluten. The study's lead author, Dr. John Blutarski, said "for years we have fruitlessly looked for a connection between our diets and CLDTP, and we came up empty handed every time. We had to open up to other factors in the environment, and there was a strong correlation with heavy social media use. Further examination revealed that the correlation was strongest with individuals who use their social media accounts to promulgate links to political blogs, articles, tweets, and memes."

Dr. Eric Stratton, the study's other author contended that "the more links an individual shared from sites such as The Huffington Post, Brietbart, and The Atlantic the more likely they were to suffer from CLDTP."

In the short time since publication, the study has come under fire from a wide array of critics. "We refuse to let these George Soros funded globablists silence us online with their fake news and fake science. MAGA" tweeted alternative news website Infowars.
"Even Alex Jones can see that this is bullshit" tweeted Vox columnist Sara L. Pettit.
