A local man from Springfield, MO set a new state record Friday afternoon. After a grueling hour long battle he landed this massive catfish. Matt says that he fishes the lake on a regular basis and usually catches catfish all throughout the day that range from a couple of pounds to 10-15lbs, but he never imagined he would be battling a 200 pound monster. For bait, Matt said that he was using the creek minnows that he always uses on every trip on a Carolina rig and at first he thought he had just caught another snag until the beast took off running. It is a miracle that Matt was able to land this fish considering he only had 40lb test line!
