Due to decline in membership and misuse of taxpayers money, the Township of Gloucester has decided it is in the best interest of the town to consolidate all 6 fire districts into one. The departments will keep their own identity, however they will be governed by one commission made up by one commissioner from each station until elections are held later in 2018. This move will save the taxpayers approximately $2 million per year. Most firefighters were not made aware of the move as town consul held a special private meeting to work out the details.
