Reed Road will be closed starting August 15 so local and state Departments of Transportation (DoT) can begin the process of widening it to four lanes of travel in addition to a middle turning lane. According to project leader Antonia Fritamunga, "This is extremely needed in order to help alleviate the amount of growth in traffic and populations that travel along the route."
Residents along the route should expect to be denied access to the area for limited times daily until the anticipated completion date of October 2018. Some residents will be given vouchers for local hospitals if access will be restricted overnight.
