An Oakshade woman was sure that everything she needed to survive was on her own property. While picking berries for jam, and wine, Carol Dopp remembered reading about milkweed pods being collected by children, and adults during World War II. The silk in the pods was used in life vests for buoyancy. On returning to the computer, Carol started searching milkweed seeds, and discovered that they were being sold 50 seeds for $5.

Carol is now waiting for the pods to mature, and preparing to collect, count, package, and sell the milkweed seeds to feed her dogs and cats. Seeds can be ordered by messaging Carol, or by contacting her through her Bad Creek Honey and Crafts page on Facebook.
