The NY Yankees principle owners, Hank and Hal Steinbrenner, along with GM, Brian Cashman, announced later Thursday night that they would not renew current manager's, Joe Girardi, contract at the end of the season regardless if they make the playoffs and how far they might make it in the postseason.
During a press conference after Wednesday's 13-5 win against the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees management said the decision was made after he made disparaging remarks online earlier today regarding the announcement that the makers of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, H.B. Reese Candy Company, a subsidiary of Hershey Company, would be shutting down production and removing their products from store shelves by November of this year due to the decline of sales in their largest market, New York City.
According to one Tweet, Girardi called the Reese's announcement the "greatest news" he has heard since they discontinued the Elvis Peanut Butter and Banana Creme Cups.
