The simple chore of mowing the lawn turned tragic this morning for Sturgis resident, Megan Connelly, at her home on Wilshire Drive. The local area resident is in stable condition at Borgess Hospital following a horrible accident involving a power push mower that occurred this morning at her home on Wilshire Drive.
While mowing her lawn, Megan accidentally tripped over her own foot causing her to fall in such a way that the power mower was pulled back on her right foot causing severe damage and subsequent loss of the appendage.
"I was inside and all I heard was her screaming from the backyard. When I got there, there was blood all over the yard," stated her husband, Eric Connelly.
Megan was rushed to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo by ambulance after being stabilized at local Sturgis Hospital. She is currently being treated for her injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
